About
The Martin Baltimore was a light attack bomber built specifically to British and French requirements, an improved development of the earlier Maryland with a deeper fuselage. Supplied under Lend-Lease, it served the RAF and the South African, Australian and other Commonwealth air forces almost exclusively in the Mediterranean and Middle East theatres, where it flew tactical bombing and reconnaissance from 1942 onwards. About 1,575 were built.
