About

RAF Spitalgate, just outside Grantham in Lincolnshire, was a flying field from 1915 and spent most of its life as a flying-training station, home to No. 12 Flying Training School and other training units. During the war it was a departure point for the Polish Parachute Brigade bound for Arnhem. The RAF gave it up in 1975, and the site became Prince William of Gloucester Barracks.
