About

RAF St Angelo was built near Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, and opened in 1941 as a fighter sector station, its Supermarine Spitfires and Hawker Hurricanes defending the area and intercepting enemy reconnaissance aircraft. It also served as the parent station for flying-boat training at nearby Killadeas. Used again by the Army during the Troubles, it survives today as Enniskillen/St Angelo Airport, home to private aviation.
