Notes
A Lancaster I of No. 50 Squadron from RAF Skellingthorpe, ED588 ‘VN-G’ was one of the relatively few Lancasters to pass 100 operations. She was lost on her 128th, the long-range raid on Königsberg of 29/30 August 1944, shot down by a night-fighter over Sweden — an unusual interception so far from Germany — with the loss of all seven of Flying Officer Anthony Carver’s crew.
