Notes
A Lancaster I of No. 106 Squadron, coded ZN-Y and carrying Mickey Mouse nose art under the name ‘Admiral Prune’ — one of a run of jokey ‘Admiral’ names used by the squadron. Wing Commander Guy Gibson flew it on six operations while commanding 106 Squadron, and among others at its controls were John Hopgood and David Shannon, both later pilots on the Dams Raid. It was lost returning from Turin on 4/5 February 1943, coming down near Lyon after both port engines failed; its pilot survived as a prisoner of war.
