No. 16 Group
Coastal Command
No. 16 Group of Coastal Command was responsible for the southern North Sea and the English Channel approaches from its headquarters at Chatham. Its squadrons flew anti-shipping strikes, convoy escort and reconnaissance against the enemy-held coasts of the Low Countries and France, and took part in the long campaign against German coastal convoys.
