Coastal Command
No. 18 Group of Coastal Command covered the northern waters, with its headquarters in Scotland at Pitreavie Castle near Rosyth. Its aircraft watched the gap between Scotland and Norway, escorted convoys to Russia and northern waters, and struck at German shipping and U-boats off the Norwegian coast.
