No. 19 Group
Coastal Command
No. 19 Group of Coastal Command controlled the South-Western Approaches and the Bay of Biscay from its headquarters at Plymouth. From 1942 it waged the intensive Bay offensive, flying long anti-submarine patrols across the transit routes the U-boats used to reach the Atlantic, and provided heavy air cover over the Channel during the Normandy invasion.
