One night in October, 1942, this officer captained an aircraft which was one of a formation detailed to attack objectives in Genoa. He found the city partially obscured by low cloud but, despite the mountainous nature of the country, he descended to 1,500 ft. to release his bombs. Pilot Officer Rawlings, who has completed numerous sorties, has at all times displayed exceptional "keenness and devotion to duty.
