This officer has participated in very many sorties against heavily defended targets in Germany and has displayed navigational skill of a high order. On one occasion, in an attack on Berlin, Pilot Officer Davies' was severely wounded in the arm and hand when his aircraft was hit by shrapnel. In spite of his injuries, Pilot Officer Davies navigated the aircraft home with great skill, setting a fine example of fortitude and devotion to duty. Since recovering from his injuries this officer has participated in attacks on such targets as Stuttgart, Schweinfurt, Augsburg and Berlin.
