This officer has completed many sorties at night and has destroyed 4 enemy aircraft, 2 of them in one sortie. His example of courage and devotion to duty has been most praiseworthy. Acting Flight Lieutenant Eric Ross GREENACRE (Aus.4032i7), Royal Australian Air Force No. 460 (R.A.A.F.) Squadron. In an operation against Kassel one night in October, 1943, this pilot displayed great courage, skill and devotion to duty. Whilst over the target area his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire and, a few minutes later, was raked by a burst of machine-gun fire from a fighter. Considerable damage was sustained and 2 of the crew were injured. Nevertheless, by a strenuous and skilful effort, Flight Lieu.
