Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) — gazetted 19 May 1944
In April, 1944, this officer was the mid-upper gunner of an aircraft which attacked an industrial plant at Clermont Ferrand. Soon after crossing the enemy coast, on the return flight, Flight Lieutenant Neison sighted an enemy fighter coming in "to the attack. In the ensuing fight, Flight Lieutenant Neison defended his aircraft with much skill and finally struck the enemy aircraft with a well placed burst of fire causing it to explode in the air. This officer has completed a large number of sorties and has proved himself to be a keen and confident gunner. His determination and fine fighting spirit have set an excellent example.
