Biography
Douglas Montague Foreman was a Squadron Leader in the RAFVR, service number 61478. CWGC records his death on 13 January 1943, aged 28, and his burial at Roxwell (St Michael) Churchyard. The local award trail records his DFC.
Aircrew Remembrance Society supplies the checked loss account. It identifies Foreman as instructor aboard Wellington III X3338 of No. 12 Operational Training Unit, coded JP-P, on a bombing-practice flight from Chipping Warden. The aircraft crashed about two miles north-east of Woodford, Northamptonshire, at about 16:30 on 13 January 1943. Foreman, pupil pilot Sergeant Gordon Campain, Pilot Officer Dudley William Charles Jepp, Sergeant Benny Sober and Sergeant William Hugh John Nott were killed, while one air gunner was injured. Those details are included because the page names Foreman with service number 61478. These records tie the same name to the same service number, award trail and casualty date, reducing the risk of confusing him with another airman of similar name.
