Biography
Graeme Elliott Harrison was a Wing Commander, service number 37012. Aircrew Remembered gives a detailed biography and loss account, identifying him as a former commanding officer of Nos. 149, 513 and 190 Squadrons and describing his No. 190 Squadron Stirling IV LJ982, code L9-N, lost from RAF Fairford on 21 September 1944 during Operation Market Garden resupply operations. Wikimedia Commons preserves the Imperial War Museum image caption showing Harrison with his crew after towing Horsa gliders to landing zone N near Nijmegen, and notes No. 190 Squadron’s heavy losses on 21 September. CWGC records Harrison’s death that day, aged 27, and burial at Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery. Gazette and RAFCommands award records connect his service number with the DFC. The sources together show a senior transport and airborne-operations commander killed during the Arnhem phase of Market Garden. These records tie the same name to the same service number, award trail and casualty date, reducing the risk of confusing him with another airman of similar name.
