Biography
Henry Reginald Coventry was a Royal Air Force Wing Commander, service number 33133. CWGC records his death on 14 July 1943, aged 27, and his burial at Maubeuge-Centre Cemetery, Row A, Grave 4. The London Gazette records his Distinguished Flying Cross on 10 August 1943, and Aircrew Remembered and CASPIR both match the same name, rank, service number and date of death.
Those live sources add a coherent final-operation account. Aircrew Remembered records Coventry as pilot of Halifax II JD297, code DY-Q, of No. 102 Squadron, operating from RAF Pocklington on the Aachen raid of 13/14 July 1943. CASPIR gives the same unit, target and aircraft context and states that the aircraft was shot down by a night fighter near Maubeuge in northern France. CASPIR also records his birth date as 10 February 1915, his home connection with Victoria, British Columbia, and his parents as the Hon. Thomas George Coventry and Alice Coventry. Those family details are included because they are also consistent with the Maubeuge cemetery memorial listing.
