Notes

A Consolidated Liberator of No. 200 Squadron, coded D, flown by Flying Officer Lloyd Trigg of the RNZAF from Rufisque near Dakar on 11 August 1943. Sighting the surfaced U-468, Trigg attacked at under fifty feet through fierce anti-aircraft fire and straddled the boat with depth charges, sinking it — but his Liberator, set alight during the run, crashed into the sea moments later, killing all aboard. The U-boat survivors’ account of his courage led to a posthumous Victoria Cross, the only one ever awarded on the evidence of the enemy.

No sorties recorded for this airframe yet.
