Notes

A de Havilland Mosquito FB.VI of No. 487 (New Zealand) Squadron, coded EG-F, flown on Operation Jericho — the pinpoint low-level raid that breached the walls of Amiens prison on 18 February 1944 to free French Resistance prisoners — by Group Captain Percy Charles Pickard, already famous to wartime audiences as the pilot of the Wellington ‘F for Freddie’ in the documentary film ‘Target for Tonight’. Lingering over the target to see the result, Pickard’s Mosquito was caught by a Focke-Wulf 190 and shot down; he and his navigator, Flight Lieutenant Bill Broadley, were killed.
