Lancaster EE118 of No. 156 Squadron, a Pathfinder unit based at RAF Warboys, was returning from a raid on Bochum when it crashed shortly after 22:40 on 29 September 1943 in an old orchard in Millers Lane, Wimbotsham, Norfolk. Six of the seven crew were killed; the rear gunner, Sgt Arthur Orchard, survived and lived until 1998. A memorial plaque to the crew stands at the crash site.
