Lancaster PB812 (AR-Y) of No. 460 Squadron RAAF was on a cross-country navigation exercise from Binbrook on 10 February 1945. Returning to base at about 15:45 it was seen to dive almost vertically into the ground near Caythorpe with flames coming from both wings; all six on board were killed.
