Notes
Short Sunderland flying boat W6009, with a largely Royal Australian Air Force crew, crashed into the Dornoch Firth, Scotland, on 14 January 1945. Five of the crew were killed and others seriously injured. A memorial overlooking the crash site was dedicated on 10 August 2024; the full crew story is recorded at w6009.com. (Only Flying Officer Raymond Marstella, of Stanthorpe, Queensland, is linked here so far — the remaining crew are to be added.)
