No. 85 Group
2nd Tactical Air Force
No. 85 Group provided the air defence of the Second Tactical Air Force’s area in North-West Europe. Its Mosquito night-fighter and Spitfire squadrons protected the forward airfields, supply lines and rear areas of the Allied armies against the Luftwaffe and, later, against flying-bomb attacks.
