History
No. 15 Operational Training Unit formed at RAF Harwell in Berkshire on 8 April 1940, training Vickers Wellington crews for Bomber Command. It used the satellite airfield at Hampstead Norris and, like other OTUs, sent crews on the 1942 ‘Thousand Bomber’ raids. In 1944 the unit was absorbed into the wider transport and training reorganisation as the bomber OTU structure was rationalised ahead of the invasion of Europe.
