History
No. 14 Operational Training Unit was formed at RAF Cottesmore in Rutland on 8 April 1940. It trained crews initially on the Handley Page Hampden and later on the Vickers Wellington, operating within the bomber training organisation that became No. 92 Group. The unit used satellite airfields including Saltby and Woolfox Lodge, and trained night-bomber crews — including many destined for No. 5 Group’s Hampden squadrons — until it disbanded in mid-1945.
