History
No. 355 Squadron formed at Salbani in Bengal in August 1943 as a long-range Liberator bomber unit for the South-East Asia theatre. It attacked Japanese bases and communications across Burma and the wider region, using the Liberator’s endurance for lengthy sorties from India. After the Japanese surrender the squadron turned to transport and relief work, including food flights into Burma, before disbanding in May 1946.
