No. 2 Group
Bomber Command
No. 2 Group was Bomber Command’s light- and medium-bomber group, flying daylight operations with Bristol Blenheims, and later Douglas Bostons, North American Mitchells and de Havilland Mosquitoes. Its crews carried out some of the most hazardous low-level raids of the early war years against shipping, airfields and pinpoint targets in occupied Europe. In June 1943 the group was transferred out of Bomber Command to the newly formed Second Tactical Air Force, where its aircraft supported the Allied armies in the campaign in North-West Europe.
