No. 418 Squadron formed at Debden in November 1941 as an RCAF intruder squadron. It first used Boston IIIs for night attacks on enemy airfields and communications, then converted to Mosquitoes for intruder, bomber-escort and anti-V-1 work. Late in 1944 it joined Second Tactical Air Force, carrying out daylight sweeps over Germany and then serving briefly with the occupation forces before disbanding in September 1945.
